Scholar, educator, designer of systems, and advocate for inclusive futures.

I’m Daniel Drak, a Canadian scholar and program director working across design, fashion, technology and cultural theory.

Based between New York City and Prince Edward County, I spend a lot of time thinking about systems; who builds them, who benefits from them, and who gets left out.

My research explores digital fashion, virtual identity and the politics of design. As an academic leader, my work focused on building rigorous, future-facing academic programs that prepare students to lead with conviction and creativity.

In my work I prioritize three truths:

  1. Theory should be usable

  2. Leadership should be human

  3. Softness is a powerful way of conveying strength
